This year, the Silver Fox and I are taking time to truly enjoy the season and savor the magic of Christmas. Usually we spend weekends from Thanksgiving to New Year visiting our winery friends, attending holiday parties, winery open houses & winemaker dinners. Well, as we all know 2020 had different plans and while we do miss catching up with our clients & friends in wine country we are indeed enjoying the opportunity to celebrate the season differently.

It has been a blessing to spend more time together as a family and enjoy new experiences. Last weekend we decked the halls with real boughs of holly nonetheless (ouch!) that's one prickly plant by the way. We visited a local garden nursery and made a wreath by hand for our front door and then prepared an incredible holiday wine pairing dinner with exquisite wines from the legendary Spottswoode Estate. In case you missed it last night, we had an absolute blast with Beth Novak Milliken and Lindy Novak of Spottswoode Estate on CellarPassTV.

This weekend, we'll be trying our hand at Gingerbread House construction and hosting a 60's era themed "Marvellously Mad" Cocktail Party for our household, complete with an assortment of throwback appetizers including something made with Spam. If you are near wine country, there are many fun and festive experiences to be enjoyed check out this week's featured lineup. They may be socially distanced, but are still filled with joy and happiness. Of course, if you cannot visit in person, there are some truly fabulous virtual experiences to participate in right from your living room.

Many of you are wine club members of your favorite wine labels and you probably have noticed many of your shipments come with recommended wine pairings and recipes. So why not don your favorite, best-ever ugly sweater and prepare one of those dishes every week for the rest of the year?

Yep, open up that wine, pour yourself a glass and let the holiday celebrations begin! Post your pics and share those recipes on our Facebook page, we'd love to see it!

Just be sure to keep that favorite sweater away from any open flames, you don't want this holiday season to be remembered for something else.
