There is just so much to do and see in Texas Hill Country, not to mention some truly incredible wine experiences topped with that warm southern hospitality. But if that isn't enough to convince you, we've got five more reasons to put Texas Hill Country on the top of your travel bucket list.

Did you know that Texas Hill Country is the 2nd most visited wine region in the United States? This is not so surprising, because there is just so much to do and see in the area not to mention some truly incredible wine experiences topped with that warm southern hospitality.  But if that isn't enough to convince you, we've got five more reasons to put Texas Hill Country on the top of your travel bucket list.

#1 Location, Location, Location
Texas Hill Country is conveniently located within 90 minutes of both Austin or San Antonio.  Each of these cities are more than worth visiting, Austin with it's off the charts music & food scene and San Antonio with their famed river walk. And of course you have your choice of two international airports making finding flights from most major airports to the region pretty darn easy.

#2 The Food
We mean real-deal wood pits filled with slabs of tender smokey goodness, waiting to be smothered in slow simmered sauces and mopped up with thick slices of, you know it, Texas Toast style bread. While the best BBQ pit is subjective and wildly debated by locals, one that seemed to top everyone's list is The Salt Lick located about 30 minutes outside Austin in Driftwood, TX. This place did not disappoint and boy were we glad we decided to rent bicycles and pedal around Austin for a few hours afterward.

And then there's Queso, we're not talking that orange substance from a can or squeeze tube. Nope, this is Texas Queso and it is out of this world- and could be considered it's own food group (kidding). According to TripAdvisor, the best place to get your gooey dip on in San Antonio is the Iron Cactus Mexican Grill & Margarita Bar

#3 Architecture
Positively regal structures adorned with hand-carved marble and sandstone can be found in just about every city from San Antonio to Fredericksburg. We were mesmerized by the grandeur of the state's capital building in Austin and simply smitten by old stone and fachwerk buildings found in the Fredericksburg Historic District

#4 Nature Abound
So many gorgeous parks, rivers and lakes for your hiking, picnicking and recreation pleasure.  You can swim under a waterfall at Austin's Hamilton Pool Preserve. Enjoy a picnic on the banks of the Guadalupe River or float the Frio River for a refreshing way to spend an afternoon .  Visit during the spring and  your eyes will be dazzled by vibrant fields of bluebonnets and paintbrush.

#5 Stunning Sunsets
Get ready to fill your Insta with a collection of photos of deep golden sunsets and the sun slowly sinks into the vast Texas horizon.  Just about any westward facing field will provide a magical setting for this natural wonder, however, Enchanted Rock State Park in Fredericksburg, TX is worth the trek and is the backdrop for many swoon worthy engagement photos.
