Under the sun in the Valley of the Moon, B.R. Cohn Winery has been making small lot, vineyard designated wines since 1984. Nestled between Sonoma Mountain and the Mayacamas Mountain range, the winery offers an inviting, relaxed environment for discovering new wines. Enjoy our memorabilia room that showcases founder Bruce Cohn's 45 years of rock-n-roll managing The Doobie Brothers. Saddle up to the wine bar or sit outside to enjoy the sunshine, our heritage Picholine olive grove and rolling hillside vineyards.
Our Olive Hill Estate Vineyards encompass 55 acres of rolling hillside, comprised of eight blocks of sustainably farmed vineyards, primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside small amounts dedicated to Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Cabernet Franc, and Petite Verdot. The Sonoma Mountain to the west of the B.R. Cohn estate acts as a buffer to the coastal fog, and the continual air movement also benefits the vineyards by narrowing the valley between Sonoma Mountain and the Mayacamas Mountain Range. These climatic factors, combined with our vineyards being situated over hot springs, result in an earlier bud break and extended growing season for our fruit. Our grapes develop full tannins and flavor profiles every year, even in the most challenging vintages.
Winemaker Glenn Hugo's winemaking philosophy is simple: wine is to be shared with friends and family; it is a living and breathing expression that constantly evolves and instills memories. With this in mind, his focus gives him a keen sense of place within the region, and he is driven to allow the wines of Sonoma to shine through in every bottle.
B.R. Cohn is a pinoeer in California Olive Oil, and produced the first estate olive oil in California in over a century. Our award-winning olive oil is produced from 160-year-old Heritage Picholine olive trees, on our olive grove at the estate.
