Here are my personal favorites for exceptional tasting room destinations all set in the new year to inspire your next wine country getaway.

 

1. Patterson Cellars – Walla Walla, Washington

Nestled in Washington’s premier wine country, Patterson Cellars offers a range of wines from robust reds to refreshing whites. Their Walla Walla tasting room is known for its relaxed vibe and knowledgeable staff who make wine approachable for everyone.

Don’t miss their Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, which perfectly capture the region’s terroir.

 

2. Tin Barn Vineyards – Sonoma, California

Hidden in the Carneros region of Sonoma, Tin Barn Vineyards is a treasure for those who enjoy small-production, high-quality wines. Their tasting room exudes a rustic charm that pairs beautifully with their bold Zinfandels and elegant Pinot Noirs.

This off-the-beaten-path gem is a must-visit for anyone seeking a fresh Sonoma experience.

 

3. Calais Winery – Hye, Texas

Deep in the heart of Texas wine country lies Calais Winery, a boutique operation dedicated to French-style winemaking. Owned by French winemaker Benjamin Calais, this winery focuses on producing limited quantities of Bordeaux-inspired wines.

6. Boeger Winery – Placerville, California

Boeger Winery blends history with innovation in the Sierra Foothills. Established in 1972 on a historic Gold Rush site, this winery crafts unique varietals like Barbera and Charbono. The lush, tree-shaded grounds make for a picturesque setting to sip and savor.

7. St. Amant Winery – Lodi, California

Known for their Portuguese varietals and old-vine Zinfandel, St. Amant Winery in Lodi is a haven for adventurous palates. Their approachable atmosphere and passion for sustainable practices make this family-owned winery a standout. Don’t leave without trying their award-winning Touriga Nacional.

 

8. Villa San-Juliette Vineyard & Winery – Paso Robles, California

Situated on a stunning estate near Paso Robles, Villa San-Juliette Vineyard & Winery offers an immersive experience. From bold Bordeaux-style reds to refreshing whites, their wines reflect the diverse Paso Robles AVA. The Mediterranean-inspired tasting room and grounds are as unforgettable as their wines.

 

9. DaVero Farms & Winery – Healdsburg, California

At DaVero Farms & Winery, the philosophy is simple: “Grow what belongs here.” Specializing in biodynamic farming and Italian varietals, this Healdsburg gem offers more than just wine.

Visitors can explore their farm and olive groves just a few minutes from downtown Healdsburg, making for a holistic tasting experience that celebrates sustainability.

 

 

10. Boxwood Estate Winery – Middleburg, Virginia

Virginia wine country often flies under the radar, but Boxwood Estate Winery is putting it on the map. Located in the picturesque Middleburg AVA, Boxwood specializes in Bordeaux-style blends crafted with meticulous care.
